The LTC3618 operates from an input voltage range of 2.25V to 5.5V and allows switching frequencies as high as 4MHz, enabling the use of very small external components. This creates a small, compact solution footprint that is preferred for DDR applications requiring

±3A or less current. The internal synchronous top and bottom power switches have an R of only 75mOhm and 55mOhm, respectively. This enables the LTC3618 to attain efficiencies as high as 94%, eliminating the need for an external catch diode and minimizing external component count and board space, as well as generating far less heat than linear regulator solutions.

DDR Power &Termination Complies with DDR/DDR2/DDR3 Standards

The LTC3618 utilizes a constant frequency, current-mode architecture. The switching frequency can be set between 400kHz and 4MHz by a single external resistor. This high frequency capability allows use of smaller capacitor values, while maintaining low output voltage ripple. 0°, 90° or 180° of phase shift between the two channels can be selected to minimize input capacitance and current ripple. For noise-sensitive switching applications, the LTC3618 can be synchronized to an external clock up to 4MHz. Forced continuous mode operation helps reduce noise and RF interference. Optional external compensation allows optimization of transient response over a wide range of loads and output capacitors. The device includes an input overvoltage lockout circuit to protect the input supply from back-boosting.

For optimal thermal performance, the LTC3618 is offered in 24-pin thermally enhanced

4mm x 4mm QFN and TSSOP packages. The device is guaranteed for operation from -40°C to

Recently, Linear Technology Corporation has announced LTC5569, a dual high performance RF mixer. In order to satisfy high density footprints of multimode 4G RRH (Remote Radio Head) MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output) receivers, the LTC5569 combines 26.8dBm IIP3 (Input Third Order Intercept), 300mW per mixer, together with wide operating frequency coverage. Since the operating range for this mixer is from 300MHz to 4GHz, just a single part can work on any of the cellular bands from 700MHz to 2.7GHz. Meanwhile, the LTC5560, a dual symmetrical active downconverting mixer, has separate baluns on both RF and LO inputs. These ports, exactly matching for 50?, need the least external parts, which could save costs and space for solving solutions. Each LO has single buffer with common input, providing the excellent space between the channels. LO offers single-ended inputs with simple external matching for 50?, no matter the mixer is on or off. Therefore, whether connecting or disconnecting channels, it will not cause loading interference, avoiding PPL (phase lock loop) and VCO circuit unlock. LO input only needs 0dBm level drive, having excellent reverse RF isolation, thus, it can adopt an external VCO circuit driver without external buffer. All these functions enhance this useful solution with the minimum external components.

The LTC5569, double channel mixer with low power and the compact solution, is the optimization model for the new 4G generation pattern receivers. With frequency 300mW every channel, it release the cooling challenge of MIMO RRH design. Meanwhile, this mixer need the least external components, with 4mm x 4mm QFN package, it provides highly compact space solution. Additionally, LTC5569 model can operate in the temperature range from -40°C to 105°C, still reliability in the harsh environment.
