The truth about cats and dogs (and iguanas)

You can't avoid it. It's not about whether you like it or not but when it comes to children, there's certainly one day when your little mini-you will come to beg with wide-eye hopefulness - that detestable sparkling gleam of innocent desire that you loathe to reject. If you don't have one already, there'll definitely be one day your kid will come asking for a cat, dog, goldfish, hamster, iguana - whatever it be depending on the taste of your kid. I resolve to call them all a breathing helpless chunk of responsibility.

And because my kid is perceived by everyone as a mini-me, I would dread to imagine the fate of whatever creature we adopt when she came over to ask if we (yes, we, as if she could help pay for the pet food, huh?) could keep a cat. Looking back at my childhood (and even adulthood in a few cases), I remember a pet-keeping history that would only make animal rights activists wish my family and I would rot in hell.

My five-year-old self's attempt at giving a cat a bath while my baby-sitter was having an afternoon nap led to its tragic death. My cats and squirrels often disappeared out of nowhere and my rabbit was starved to death when I asked my brother to take care of him for a few days during my final exam at university. Even the toughest blokes like fighting fishes given to my kid by her paternal grandfather floated with their belly up in their own jars when the temperature on our 5th floor penthouse reached its peak on one summer day. RIP my ex-pets, please forgive me for what I have (or have not) done.

Being a (naughty) kid before, and a mother now, I understand that it's a natural phase of childhood when you're urged by the uncontrollable desire to have the company of this cute-y little super furry creature (well, swimming creature if your choice is a fish).

But a kid's desire for a pet isn't much different from that of those passers-by who stop and pinch your kid's cheek at a department store before walking away mumbling that they too, want a kid of their own. It's the desire for the irresistible adorability - and not the food bill, not the poop-stained bed sheet, not the crying up in the mid of the night, not the intolerable shriek and smell of urine on your vintage couch when they're in heat.

And like kids, cats and dogs will outgrow their cute puppy/kitten phase in less than six months and that's when the honeymoon is over. That's when we mothers have to take all the responsibility of feeding, cleaning the litter box (and couches), and walking it to the park when those who cried their hearts out vowing to take care of the new pet finally got bored of the not-anymore-new pet and retreated back to their PlayStation.

Tips for Choosing Scottish Fold Cat Food - Scottish Fold Cat

You are what you eat, and this is equally true for the scottish fold kittens that depend on us for “room and board.” Indeed, scottish fold kitten food is one of the most important expenses of feline guardianship, next to veterinary care. It is important also to note that proper diet can eliminate or delay veterinary expense for a number of serious medical conditions.

The ultimate purpose of this series is to help you learn how to read scottish fold kitten food labels to make your decision process easier in choosing the best foods for your scottish fold kitten, but first we need to cover some of the basics.

Water

That’s it, basically. scottish fold kittens do not need carbohydrates, although corn, wheat, and/or rice are used as fillers for both canned and dry scottish fold kitten foods. Other ingredients, such as binders, flavoring, and coloring, are added by scottish fold kitten food manufacturers to satisfy the aesthetic wants of the consumer. Although preservatives are necessary, to keep foods fresh for our scottish fold kittens, canned food should not be allowed to remain out for any length of time, in any case.

Canned food or Kibble?

Many nutritionists agree that scottish fold kittens should get a variety of food, both dry and canned, for several reasons:

While dry food is convenient, and can be left out for “free feeding,” To head off possible allergies to certain ingredients. scottish fold kittens (like humans) develop allergies over a period of time. Although the incidence of food allergies in scottish fold kittens is rare, scottish fold kitten owners might want to err on the side of caution, particularly if their scottish fold kittens have shown evidence of allergies in the past. To prevent “food addictions.” The Whole scottish fold kitten Journal, in its October, 2001 issue, cites the case of a scottish fold kitten that was addicted to a particular flavor of a particular brand of scottish fold kitten food, right down to a specific factory and lot number! This kind of addiction can be difficult to deal with when that last can is gone, but can be easily avoided by feeding a variety of foods from the start.

This doesn’t mean that Fred should get a different food every day, but a variety of high-quality canned foods, supplemented with dry food for scottish fold kittens left alone all day, will add spice to his diet and keep him from becoming “Finicky Fred.
