Vendors plan dream wedding for St. Ann tornado victims

St. Ann, MO (KSDK) - A follow-up to a story NewsChannel 5 first reported in April about an engaged St. Ann couple who lost nearly everything in the Good Friday tornados, is getting some help in planning their big day.

A group of vendors, florists, and photographers has come together to make sure their wedding is special.

After losing nearly all their belongings, Nicole Byrd and Josh Hall knew they couldn't afford the wedding they had planned. But thanks to the kindness of strangers, they'll now have one that's even better.

After hearing their story, florist Frankie Peltiere of Festive Atmospheres decided to take action.

"I thought, we can make this a little bit more special," he said. "So on Facebook I shouted out to my friends and said, 'Hey, we're doing this, anybody want to join us to help out and give them a great day?'"

All of a sudden, vendors started coming forward by the dozens. And soon, Nicole and Josh's dream wedding began to take shape. Wedding planner Tami Heroff of Perfect Day Weddings and Events agreed to coordinate everyone and in the process developed a close relationship with the couple, and the six children they share between them.

"The fact that it was a family and their home was lost, I just felt the need to want to get out there and help them," Heroff said.

While she planned the wedding, Nicole and Josh found a new home and tried to replace the furniture and clothing that was lost. They've also been focused on the kids, one of whom developed a stutter and hides whenever there's a storm.

They say having this event to look forward to help them get through these last few months.

"It's so shocking and just so amazing, there's no words to describe the feelings I have for it," Byrd said.

Hall adds, "All these donations, it's going beyond what we even planned. It's amazing."

And while the centerpieces surpass their expectations, their feelings about the big event are exactly what they'd hoped for.

"I'm very nervous but I'm so excited," Byrd said.

The wedding is Saturday in St. Charles at the Stegton Inn. Here are some of the vendors that have contributed to the big day.
