NFL 2011 Pre-Season Power Rankings

Lockouts, holdouts, and all post-season craziness aside, the NFL 2011-2012 season is quickly approaching. So as always it is time for “The Shark” to separate the good from the bad, and the men from the boys (or even the Cowboys, if you will). It’s time once again for the Power Rankings, 32-1 on who has what coming in to the new season.

Yes it is a very early look and quite frankly it is opinion based on moves and shakes by all these teams. I mean how many of us had the Cowboys at 6-10 last year? How many thought that the Vikings would be nowhere around in 2010? Well, not many, so take this with some grains of salt, but also use it as a fair barometer as to where teams can end up.

Now that the time of year is upon us, “The Shark” will be real busy with rankings, NFL rankings, predications and all that other great stuff that goes hand-in-hand with the NFL. We survived the scare of having no season, but now that the agreement has been made, and camps are in session, let’s all take advantage of it and enjoy a great season. Consider it that second chance with the love of your life! So here goes the rankings, enjoy, comment and let’s see what the rest of you think.

32. Carolina Panthers (2-14): It was so bad last year that it was scary. Number 1 overall pick, QB Cam Newton will learn quickly of the perils of the NFL. Not many big time free agent moves so it will be a growing process for the entire organization. Don’t expect much, and you won’t get let down.

(4-12): Questions at QB between Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow is not the best way to bounce back from a terrible season. The Broncos have lots of holes to fill, and just don’t seem to be in order. Tebow will sell tickets, but will that amount to wins? We will see.

30. Cincinnati Bengals (4-12): Ochocinco is finally gone, but so are some other key pieces, including the possibility of QB Carson Palmer not playing this season. To think 2 years back this team was in the playoffs! Now it seems to finally be the end for Marvin Lewis, barring a miracle.

29. Buffalo Bills (4-12): When you finish 4-12 many expect you to make big moves to improve. Not the case for the Bills, who actually lost the few big time defensive players they had. They just don’t have the pieces to compete in a very tough division.

28. Cleveland Browns (5-11): I still find myself confused by the move at Head Coach? The Browns had some good moments last year, but will Peyton Hillis be able to handle the load again this year? They did not bring in much this off-season, but they do tend to catch teams by surprise. Not enough to make a big splash this year.

The Aircraft Marshaller / ground crew-person wears an orange vest, camo uniform underneath the vest, and has a full face mask and ear/headset. This figure also comes with an orange marshalling paddle and a wand. The marshaller has the full range of PTE articulation, 21 points I believe. The neck turns fine, and the figure can hold its accessories fairly easily, although the wand may require squeezing the hand in a bit. I have not seen the marshaller figure in any other PTE set, so it may be a new figure. The Pilot figure is the same as the pilot figures that come with other aircraft and helicopters in the PTE/WPK range. This pilot has a black uniform with red and silver highlights. It has the full range of articulation except for the neck, which is a single piece with the head and torso, and cannot, therefore, be swivelled. I noticed (albeit after photographing the figure) that the pilot was sealed in the box set with the waist swivelled around back-to-front (see pictured). Just something to look out for. The plastic used to make this aircraft feels thinner than that on the FLANKER and the Hornet, so it is somewhat lighter than those two aircraft. The undercarriage works fine, but initially felt a little flimsy, and I was worried that it wouldn't balance the plane properly or would collapse when rolled. The wheels are not as chunky as those on the other two planes mentioned. Fortunately, I found no problems with balance and the aircraft is quite stable on a variety of surfaces I have placed it on. Rolling the aircraft was fine; the wheels stayed out and in place. The J-10 is a most welcome addition to the World Peacekeepers / PTE line. It looks great, has rolling and retracting wheels, a decent weapon load-out, very good paint apps that look like those on the real life aircraft, and two great figures, including a potential new fig in the marshaller, which adds to the play value and makes this set worth buying. The rather small assortment of accessories is the only let-down, in my view, as I am sure more items, or at least more interesting and useful items (such as a ladder), could have been included. If you already own several PTE items, however, it's probable that you have a wealth of accessories can be used with this aircraft set anyway.
